Coursework

  • An applicant must submit coursework from a qualifying university or college to fulfill the conditions of CEUs.
  • For each semester hour of the qualifying course, 15 CEUs shall be allotted.

  • The university or college should be associated with the nursing practice of the candidate.
  • The candidate must receive at least a ‘C’ grade or higher in the course.
  • A valid copy of the completion of the course will be approved as proof.

Continuing Education

  • CEUs required for license renewal should be attained within 2 years.
  • The CEUs are liable to unplanned audits by the Board.
  • Any of the following can authorize the CEUs:
  • The American Nurses Association (ANA)
  • The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)
  • Area Health Education Centers (AHEC)
  • A professional nursing organization, whether local, state, or national
  • The Maryland Nurses Association (MNA)
  • The National Council of State Boards of Nursing
  • The National League of Nursing
  • Other organizations offer CEUs for license renewal for APRNs.
